The ISH in Frankfurt is the world’s leading trade fair for water, heating, and climate solutions, setting benchmarks in the HVAC and plumbing sector. It provides a platform for innovation, exchange, and sustainable solutions in the fields of energy and building technology.
Over the course of 2014, the economic situation in the combined heat and power sector improved significantly, prompting our client, EC POWER, to seize the opportunity to expand its trade fair presence substantially. In this context, our agency, Artist Design, where I had been employed for two years at the time, was commissioned to design a two-storey exhibition stand.
During the design process, four main variants for the stand emerged. The version ultimately chosen introduced a design element that would become a key visual feature of EC POWER’s trade fair appearances for the next ten years: the white, horizontally aligned slats with logos affixed to them.
Additionally, I was responsible for developing the large graphic, which used a cartoon-style exploded view to illustrate the key benefits of combined heat and power systems.
At that time, my responsibilities were primarily focused on design and conceptualisation. However, with ISH 2015, I began to take on increasing responsibility in areas such as communication with the client, the stand builder, and the trade fair organisers, as well as in logistics and cost control.
